Vladivostok is the largest city of Russian Far East. It's located at the head of the Golden Horn Bay, the Pacific Ocean, not far from Russia's borders with China and North Korea. Vladivostok is a large seaport as well as scientific, educational and cultural center of Far East. Here there are leading research institutes of Far Eastern Branch of RAS and the Far Eastern Federal University which is one of the largest University in Russia. Institute for Automation and Control Processes FEB RAS (IACP FEB RAS)

Since its establishment in 1971 the Institute of Automation and Control Processes has been the venue for flourishing fundamental research in such fields as theory of control and automation, information processing, complex studies of the World Ocean, surface physics, semiconductors, optical and quantum electronics. Today the Institute has Federal Institution Status and is incorporated into the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It occupies leading position in the field of physics, mathematics and technical sciences. The Institute employs 190 research staff. Among them are 2 Full Members of RAS, 5 Corresponding Member of RAS, about 30 Doctors of Sciences and more than 80 PhDs. They are conducting diversified research on control problems, mathematical modeling of complex systems, informatics, mechanics, laser physics, optoelectronics, photonics, surface physics and nanotechnologies.
